Giddi

Here's what you need to know.

Giddi was created with the idea of solving one of the most frustrating and stress inducing questions - what do you want to eat for dinner? This question can lead to indecision which leads to frustration which leads to being hangry and no one wants that. My team and I know this feeling and made it our goal to help those who just want a nice meal and don't want to think too much about it, because let's face it, we already think way too much during the day and don't need this added stress.

The problem: Too much time is spent deciding what you want to eat for dinner. On average, it takes 14 minutes to decide what you want to eat for a meal. Coincidentally, the longer it takes you to figure out what you want to eat, the hangrier you get. This causes more frustration within relationships and the decision of where to go for a meal.

Target Audience: Young adults who are interested in taking the anxieties of figuring out what to eat out of their lives.

My Approach

On average, it takes 14 minutes to decide what you want to eat for dinner. This statistic was the driving force of our research.

I wanted to know why it took this long to solve such a simple question. I looked into research about what happens to a person when they get hungry, how stress affects decision making, and even if people were interested in going out to a restaurant alone.

I created a survey to understand more about how the question "What do you want to eat" makes people feel and 40% of respondents stated that it made them feel stressed, overwhelmed or nervous.

We don't want this question to add more anxiety to someone's life. It should be an easy question.

As Giddi, we wanted to create an app that makes life easier.

Giddi is the app that figures out what you want for dinner so you don't have to.

All you do is input your allergies (if applicable) into your profile and then Giddi will ask you a few questions to perfectly match you with a restaurant.
      - do you have a taste for anything specific? yes or no
      - what's the vibe? lively or intimate
      - how many people are dining tonight? just me or I'm not alone
      - how do you plan on getting there? walking or driving
      - do you want to know where you are going? yes tell me or no surprise me

You can't have an app telling you where to go eat if you don't have a list of restaurants...

Don't worry, I have them right here

I went through every cuisine Giddi would offer
- Thai
- Mediterranean
- American
- Cuban
- Japanese
- Chinese
- Mexican
- Italian

and picked 8 restaurants each and divided them into different preferences. I used VCU Brandcenter as our base for walking/driving distance. This excel sheet was used to design our Giddi app.
